Cut your energy costs with fully funded solar.
Hawthorne Energy arranges fully funded commercial solar for established UK businesses, with no upfront cost to you.
Free assessment, no site visit, no obligation. You get real numbers for your building.
¹Indicative industry figures. Your actual numbers depend on site, tariff and system size, and come with your assessment.
Energy costs only move one way.
Your roof can fix that.
Grid electricity keeps getting more expensive and most businesses have no way to control it. We arrange commercial solar that's fully funded and modelled against your actual load profile, so the saving is real rather than a sales estimate, and your balance sheet stays clean either way.
What you can expect from us.
We establish whether solar is worth doing on your site, model it against your own consumption, and set out the funding route in plain terms. An accredited funder then designs, installs, insures and maintains the system.
- Accredited delivery. Installation is carried out by accredited UK engineers with an established commercial track record.
- Modelled on your own bills. Figures come from your actual consumption, not a generic estimate.
- Honest about fit. If a site does not suit funding, we will say so rather than press on.
- Terms in plain English. Funding, warranty and maintenance set out clearly before anything is signed.
Solar for your kind of site.
What matters is roof space and daytime electricity use, not the sector on your letterhead. These are the buildings we are asked about most.
Warehousing & logistics
Large roofs over buildings that draw power all day. Close to the ideal case for a funded system.

Heavy, consistent daytime load, and electricity that behaves like a production input rather than an overhead.

Term-time demand sits squarely in daylight hours, and no capital is needed under a funded agreement.

Round-the-clock buildings with a heavy daytime peak across laundry, kitchens and lighting.

From site visit to switch-on.
Assess
A free desktop assessment using your energy bills and site details, giving you indicative numbers before anyone visits site.
Design & finance
A full site survey confirms the design, then you choose a fully funded agreement or buying outright. The grid application is handled with your network operator on your behalf, and rooftop solar on commercial buildings in England is generally permitted development, so there is usually no planning application to make.
Install
Accredited installers deliver on schedule, with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations.
Report
Ongoing performance reviews keep you informed on savings, output and carbon impact for the life of the system.
It starts with solar.
Battery Storage
Store what you generate and use it when you need it. Specified alongside a solar installation rather than on its own.
EV Charger Installation
Fleet and workplace charging infrastructure, funded and installed alongside your solar system.
Maintenance & Monitoring Included on funded systems
Not sold separately. On a funded system, monitoring, maintenance and panel cleaning are covered for the full term of the agreement.
Energy & Carbon Reporting Included on funded systems
Clear reporting on savings, generation and carbon reduction, simple enough to justify the spend to whoever else needs convincing.
Storage and charging are usually added once the solar is in. The assessment covers all of it.

You pay only for the power.
An energy investor funds, owns and maintains the system. You buy the electricity it generates on your own roof, at a rate below what you pay today. There is no capital outlay and no maintenance cost to you.
Fully funded
You pay nothing upfront
- Monitored, maintained and insured for the full term, at no cost to you
- No roof repair or upgrade costs to get the system on
- Electricity supplied below your current rate
- Monthly invoicing, with performance reporting
- The system becomes yours at the end of the term, and the power it generates then costs you nothing
Known in the industry as a Power Purchase Agreement, or PPA.
Buy it yourself
You own it outright
- You own the asset and retain the full saving
- Strongest return where capital is available
- Suits smaller sites, where funding may not apply
- Ongoing maintenance and cleaning sit with you
Sometimes called CapEx purchase. Asset finance is also an option.
Which route suits you depends on your roof and your consumption. A short conversation will establish it.

How is it free? What's the catch?
No catch, but it's fair to ask. An energy investor pays for the system and owns it, because they make their return selling you the power over the long term. You buy that power at a lower rate than your current supplier charges, and there is no cost to you for our involvement. We'll walk you through the full terms on a call.
We rent our building. Does that rule us out?
No. Leased sites go ahead regularly, and landlords are often receptive. It depends on your lease, so it's worth a quick conversation rather than assuming it's a dead end.
Is our site too small?
Possibly not, and it costs nothing to find out. Where a site is too small for a funded system, buying outright often still stacks up. We'd rather look than have you rule yourself out.
What happens at the end of the agreement?
The rights and title to the system pass to you. You own it outright, and the electricity it carries on generating costs you nothing.
Our roof would need work first.
There are no roof repair or upgrade costs to you. The roof is checked for suitability before anything begins, and where remedial work is needed it can usually be built into the agreement.
What will it actually save us?
Businesses typically cut their electricity bills by up to 30% once solar is in. Your actual figure depends on your roof, your usage and your current tariff, so send us your details and we'll come back with a number for your building specifically.
Prefer to talk it through first?
Call us directly and we'll walk you through the numbers before you commit to anything. No site visit needed to get a first answer.
